    Get PDF

    Fieldbus technology in industrial automation

    Get PDF
http://ieeexplore.ieee.org/Fieldbus technology in industrial automation is not only relatively complex because of the number of solutions possible, but also, and above all, because of the variety of applications. Ironically, these in turn are responsible for the multitude of solutions available. If the analysis of the basic needs is relatively standard, as they will always involve connecting sensors, actuators, and field controllers with each other, the options in architecture are numerous and can impose the need for certain services. The required performances themselves and the quality of service expected fundamentally depend on the applications. This article traces this technology from its beginnings, which go back to the first industrial networks in the 1970's. The principal stages of development are recounted, from the initial requirement specifications to the current state of international standardization. The diverse technical solutions are then analyzed and classified. In particular, we study the temporal aspects, the medium access control protocols and application relationships

Multimedia systems and real-time systems : some analogies and similarities

    Get PDF
International audienceReal-time systems and Multimedia systems have been developed separately for along time. The vocabularies are different, but some concepts are similar and it seems now useful to analuse and compare these systems in order to define more generic or common solutions and understanding. The applications characteristics, the operating system mechanisms and the modelling techniques are analysed for both of these systems

Quality of service in industrial applications

International audienceThis paper presents an analysis of the Quality of Service (QoS) Architectures of the following communication networks: Fieldbuses (IEC 61158, WorldFIP and ControlNet) and Internet. The analysis takes into account, on one hand, the end-user requirements and, on the other hand, the different mechanisms defined by each model to meet and guarantee the end-user requirements. The analysis shows that it is required new QoS architectures in order to provide end-to-end QoS in distributed industrial application

An Adaptive Hierarchical Routing Protocol for Wireless Ad-hoc Sensor Networks

    Get PDF
International audienceThis paper presents a cluster based, adaptive routing protocol that dynamically adapts to node's failure and mobility. Cluster head election, Mobility management, Failure management and Load balancing are the main parts of the protocol which are controlled by a Fuzzy decision making function. A new load balancing method by using Load tree is presented in this approach. The simulations results show the efficiency of this algorithm to manage the mobility and failure of the nodes and also to balance the load in the network

A Distributed Fuzzy-based Failure Management for Wireless Sensor Networks

    Get PDF
International audienceIn addition to limited energy resources in wireless sensor networks, failure of the nodes is a constraint to provide a reliable communication. As the failure of a node may have many reasons like mobility of the node and node or link failure, it is clear that in a real environment, we cannot control or reduce the number of failure in a network but it's possible to manage it. In this paper, we propose a technique to improve routing protocols by considering both energy and failure constraints and managing them. By using this technique, the routing protocols dynamically adapt to nodes' failure. The simulations results show the efficiency of this technique in two sample routing protocols

A Location-Unaware Distributed Clustering Algorithm for Mobile Wireless Networks Using Fuzzy Logic

    Get PDF
International audienceThis paper proposes a decentralized algorithm to organize an ad hoc sensor network into clusters by using Fuzzy Logic. Each sensor uses a Fuzzy decision making process to find the best Cluster Head. Simulation shows that this protocol is able to dynamically adapt to network mobility and also shows that with fuzzy logic we have stable clusters and so a cluster head have greater lifetime. Therefore respect to mobility, we have the minimum message exchange and so minimum energy consumption
